First Food Review Finally
Ok, it is about time I actually started blogging or reviewing food like I originally intended to. With porcrastination and deadlines on my heels I decided bloggin would be a good start to jump start my writing juices so I'm going to start with what I had over the weekend. Some people would know of this nice, not so quiet little shop situated in Taman Mayang, near the old Lim Kok Wing Campus. No, its not located anywhere near the shop lots but rather on the very far end of the run down stalls that you see by the side of the roads. It's a place that I call William's (after the name of the owner).
At first glance, the place doesn't look like much, just your typical roadside mamak shop. However, its when the food comes that you would really be surprised. William's has a plethora of food ranging from Nyonya style mixed rice to your typical mamak fare and one of the best pastas you can find in the Klang Valley. Yes, I'm telling you. Pastas. William's actually serves pastas and not your normal watery tomato sauce pastas, actual Italian style pastas. This is not surprising considering that William himself used to be a chef in a local hotel. I'm digressing however. As I said before what Williams really excels is in pastas. My girlfriend and I have eaten our fair share of Italian food (my girlfriends even been to Italy), and so far we've decided that Williams pasta, is much better, even then those serve at up class restaraunts.
Anyway, this is going to be a review of the dishes that he has made and I've eaten (of course) and I'm going to start off with a non pasta dish. Yes I know I was waxing lyrical about his pastas but bear with me for a moment. The dish I had, I will call it Pan fried breaded fish with butter prawn stuffed squid in Mash. Long huh. See the picture and you'll know what i mean.
What the dish is, is this. Deepfried butter prawns (chopped and mashed i think) were stuffed into these huge squids and then grilled. The fish on the other hand was lightly breaded and I think pan fried will perfectino. The mash is home made, with the mushroom, cheese sauce slathered all over it and the plate. So what of its taste. The squid is grilled just nicely and the stuffed butter prawns give it this lovely sweet taste that complements the squid. The stuffed butter prawns give a nice inner crunchy complement to the soft and tender squid. The fish is no featherweigh either. The cooks have managed to fry it to perfection and its taste absolutely delicious. One thing that you would have to look out for is the sauce though. It is delicious but... it is extremely rich. It does complement the home made mash. Now back to the point of pastas, the reason I had this dish was because I did not want to overeat. Obviously, not asking for pasta didn't help much. I was full as a pig and almost couldn't move. William can prepare a pasta variation of the dish and it taste as wonderful, I know, I;ve eaten it before. So what's the damage for such a fine dish. Mind you seafood dishes like these, in normal Italian restaraunts will set you back around RM30 maybe RM20 if you're lucky. Williams however charged me less then RM15 (i'm not sure the actual price caused I paid for it together with my girlfriends nasi lemak which i will blog on later). Remember i had two big pieces of squid stuffed with prawns and a huge piece of fish, and we know how expensive sea food can be. The pasta version of it is no different.
At less then Rm15 with drinks, William's offer really value for money meals. Ok the place is a bit dinghy but heck we're Malaysians what do we care about cleanliness of a place as long as the food is good. In fact I have a theory, the dirtier the place tends to be the more delicious the foods seems to be. Not that Williams is really dirty or anything but it is located in a shack beside the road. So if you want a good meal and don't mind your surroundings, go to Williams.

Forgive the bad photography but doesn't that look good

Slacking off
Its been like a month (or more) since I made decided to actually keep a semi-regular blog and what do I have to show. 2 measely entries. Ive got a serious problem with procrastination and I don't know if its a problem I'll be able to kick. It not only affects my blog, it also affects my work and personal life. The work part is still manageable as somehow or rather, by my skill in bullshitting and pure luck, I'm still able to get away with a lot of things. However, I'm pretty sure my luck is running its final course. I really have to buck up or I could risk losing my job. As it is, deadlines are pinnacle to my job (I'm a writer by the way) and not meeting them is a big no no, second only to plagiarism.
My girlfriend knows I have this problem but I don't know till what extent does she understand it. However judging from her intelligence, I'm pretty sure she's got it all figure out. This actually makes me wonder why she keeps sticking with me. She's more succesful, older, definitely richer, more intelligent and more driven then me. Its not as if she's keeping me as a boy toy, cause, well let's just leave it as I am not boy toy material. The only reason I can think of is that she really loves me. That's great and all, but that makes me feel guilty for not being able to match up to what she is. It making me feel rather depressed and I'm not one who gets depressed easily. All i can do now is basically buck up, do my best and not let the ghost of procrastination get hold of me. I hope that is enough

Not Good
Arghhh!!!! I didn't post over the weekend. Was so bloody busy that I couldn't even post. Saturday was a great day though. Managed to catch up with some old friend over at Mid Valley. As usual when we meet up we have to gossip and bitch about our old company (which some of them stil work at). Hmmmm, I missed those days when we all used to work together. We had 'brunch' but by the time everyone turned up, it was already lunch and me and my girlfriend were like so hungry.
We ended up talking bout housemates from hell. Can you imagine the kind of housemates we can sometimes get. Just recently my housemate absconded from our place and a good riddance. He was this Middle Eastern guy who thought his money was so big he could do anything in the house.
Now, I'm not biased against Middle Easterners or anything, but this guy just took the cake. He'd wash four articles of clothing with the washing machine set at a full water level and OVERFLOW RINSE. WTF, our water shot from RM30++ per 2 months to RM50. That's not all he made my brand new toaster oven look like it was used for years. Let's not get started with how he kept his toilet. He even had the cheek to try to teach me and my gf english, when he could barely speak it himself.
OOO i could go on about how idiotic he was but I'm a bit lazy today (you should know now from my two days of non-posting.

You have an extremely good understanding of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of each of these three levels' questions correct. This is an exceptional score. Remember, these are commonly confused English words, which means most people don't use them properly. You got an extremely respectable score.

Bored, bored, bored
I'm so f*@#%&g bored of my skull right now. It'll be a while till my work cycle picks up so now all i'm doing is IM-ing (to the very few friends I have) and reading blogs, which is what got me started on my blog. I mean I read stuff from, Jeff Ooi, kennysia and drliew all the time so why not start on my own blog. I'm sure I won't be as entertaining or informative as the three I've mentioned but at least it'll give me something to do for a while.
If you're wondering why the title "the foodie" that's because I love food. Food is my nectar and my sustenance (ok it's everyone's sustenacne just leave me to my blogging!!!!). Back in my secondary school days me and my buddies would either grab a bus or car pool down from JB to Tangkak just to get our hands on some beef noodels (mmm feeling hungry now). I'm not that crazy now ever since I became a blimp (my mom's own words), but I still love to eat. So you might see me put up some food reviews once in a while. For now I'd like just to ramble on go on and on and on and on and on and on and...... Damn blogging seems harder then it seems I think I'll try this out tommorrow.

Bloody Lazy
Going to church on an early Sunday morning has always been a chore for me, even when I had a car. That was why I've always my attended my church's Sarturday night service, it was easier, I felt less sleepy, which reduced the once in a while embarassing situation of me dozing of and snoring during the sermons. This all changed around June or July of 2004, when a bunch of my church buddies, after being 'pushed' by my mom, asked me to join the church traffic ministry, for Sunday mornings.
Now I don't really know if my mom just wanted me to be more active in church or she just wanted me to get of my lazy butt, though I have the feeling it could have been both, but to my surprise I actually agreed to it. After all, I thought it was really nothing, I had a car and church was pretty near anyway, so why not. Boy was I in for a surprise. Now, you'd think that traffic duty in church is pretty easy, just standing there and directing cars, believe me it isn't. Not when your church has a total attendance of around 400 to 500 people, and its parking area can only fit about 50 to 60 cars. Add to that, some irate church members who insist on doing it their way and you got yourself a major headache on a Sunday morning.
The good thing however was we had good planning and lots of patience so eventually I managed to settle into things. I even learnt to get up early, on a Sunday morning !!!!! HOwever, ever since I've shifted out of my parents place and in with my girlfriend, things have changed. No car, no time and I guess general laziness have made me cut down on my Sunday duties even less and less. So it's almost four pm already, and why am I rambling away about this? Well I guess it's beacuse I didn't even bother going for duty today. So it's just thinking.

Beginings
Starting this blog was one of the hardest things that I've actually had to push myself to do. Since November I've been wanting to start a blog but never really got down to it due to procrastination or just plain laziness. Another reason was I never really knew what I wanted to write about in my blog. Then, a few days ago it hit me, I don't really have to write about anything in my blog. I don't need a high and mighty reason to start a blog. It's a journal of my thoughts, albeit one that is publicised to the world.
I have no high and mighty intentions with this blog. Well maybe a bit, after all, I chose to put my thoughts on the web rather than a nice little journal away from the prying eyes of the world, so there is a little egoistical side to me that wants to be heard by the whole world. I guess maintaining this blog is going to take time and especially effort, something that lacks quite a bit in my life. But what the hell, I'm good to go.
